Event Details

High school students are invited to join us for a powerful book discussion series exploring The New York Times Magazine’s award-winning 1619 Project—a groundbreaking work that reexamines American history by placing slavery and its enduring impact at the heart of our national story.

Together, we’ll read and discuss selected essays from the book, with special guest speakers joining throughout the series to spark conversation and inspire fresh ways of thinking about our country’s past and present.

Our first and final sessions will meet in person; all other sessions will be held virtually. Registration is required so please do so here. If you have any questions please email Dusty at dsanboeuf@waterloopubliclibrary.org

This session will focus on Chapter 16: Traffic by Kevin M. Kruse, p. 405 and Chapter 17: Progress by Ibram X. Kendi, p. 421

Age group: High Schoolers
