Update on Library Services
Patrons are now welcome to enter the library without an appointment for browsing, checkouts and picking up holds, printing, photocopying and using a computer or scanner. Interlibrary Loan service will also be resuming. We are requesting patrons continue to make appointments for Exam Proctoring and Notary service.
Masks or cloth face coverings, completely covering the nose and mouth, will be required at all times in the building. For those who cannot, should not, or will not wear a mask and for those who wish to limit their contact with others, curbside service will continue.
Occupancy levels will be monitored and the library will display the number of available openings in real time in the library entryway and on the library's website. Visits to the library must be brief and limited to only the time needed. Seating in the library will only be available at computer stations. Due to social distancing guidelines, library staff are not able to handle patron’s personal devices and cannot provide one-on-one technology or computer assistance.

Wednesday: 9 am – 7 pm
Thursday - Saturday: 9 am – 5 pm

Curbside Pickup Service Remains Available During Library Hours
Books, magazines, DVDs, Blu-rays, music CDs, and audiobooks/books on CD.
How it works:
1. Place Your Holds
Log into your account here. Search for titles you wish to check out and then click “Place Hold” next to each. You may also call the Waterloo Public Library for personal assistance in reserving items at (319)291-4476.
2. Receive Holds Ready Notification
We will email or call when your holds are available for pickup. Once you receive this notification you may visit the library during library service hours to pick up your items. Due to demand, wait times for holds placed online may be longer than usual. Thank you for your patience.
3. Arrive at Pickup Location & Call
Enter the library’s parking lot, pull into one of the numbered curbside spaces and remain in your vehicle. Have your library card number ready. Call (319)291-4480 or text us at (319)214-0009 to let us know you have arrived. Your items will be checked out to your account, bagged and brought outside. Enjoy!

Staff will email you when your document is available for pickup via curbside service.
You must pick up your materials within 7 days of receiving your "holds are available" notification. Unclaimed items will be checked back in and reshelved.
If you would like library staff to suggest materials for you, please fill out our new Shelf Service form for personalized recommendations. You may then place items on hold for future curbside pickup.
Returning Items: For the safety of library staff, all returns must go to the outdoor book drop located near the library’s main entrance. All returns will go into a quarantine period for several days. For this reason, please understand that materials will still appear on your account until they are checked in by library staff.
